Salento to Popayán
I left Salento this morning. I had decided to come all the way down to Popayán and afterwards to go back up to Cali. I thought I’d spend the day in Armenia, because I thought there was just an overnight bus. But Armenia itself didn’t really look like it had much to offer, and when…

Irish weather
The weather here in Salento is very Irish. It’s wet and cold. Even more than Guatapé. It gives me a feeling for what tourists have to go through in Ireland. On the walk back from the coffee plantation, the heavens opened. And I didn’t have an umbrella, because I’d left it in a restaurant (I…

El Puñol
El Puñol is a large natural rock that is something like 100 metres tall, and is the main tourist feature here. Today I walked over an hour uphill to get to it, and then climbed the 749 steps to the top, where there was a spectacular view.
