En route to Medellín
I’m in a town called Magangue on my way to Medellín. And it’s my first update using my mobile phone! I have a 12 hour bus journey starting at 6 PM getting to Medellín in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

I popped into Centro to see what was happening on Saturday afternoon, and watched the start of the Desfile de Balleneras. The ‘beauties’ were announced and marched up and down on what seemed to be tables put together, and then came into smaller boats, where they removed their wraps and headed out into the harbour…

Good morning. The Independence celebrations continue, and this afternoon I’m off to see the desfile de balleneras, which seems to have an unfortunate translation as whaling parade. Given that it’s when the Miss Colombia contestants take to the water.
